Dear Parents,

A very warm welcome back to all, hope you had a lovely Summer and got to enjoy the sunshine. We are looking forward to a fun-packed and busy year in Saplings Goresbridge and wish everyone the very best for the new school year.

Fundraising – A huge thank you to Dara O’ Brien who ran the Barrow Way over the Summer to raise a massive €3500 for Saplings Goresbridge. What a fantastic achievement!

Home-School Communication – Please note that while teachers can be contacted via class dojo during school hours, due to GDPR regulations, phones will be left in school and will not be accessed outside of school hours. Class dojo should be used for everyday communication regarding your child’s day in school. If you wish to speak to a teacher, require a meeting or have a particular difficulty, please ring the office to arrange. All meetings will take place remotely for the foreseeable future.

Arts and Photocopying – As most of our educational resources are made in school, and individualized for each child, there will be a charge of €120.00 for educational materials and photocopying. These monies cover the cost of producing materials, photocopying, velcro, laminating sheets and printing of workbooks. If preferred, this can be paid in two instalments of €60, one in September with the balance to be paid in January.  In addition, there will be a charge of €15 per pupil for nursing and medical requisites such as Calpol, Nurofen etc. All payments should be enclosed in an envelope with the child’s name and sent into the office at your earliest convenience.

Absence Notes –  Again this year, our top priority is the health of all in the school community. We thank you in advance for erring on the side of caution – keeping children home who are unwell, getting GP advice when their symptoms are on the Covid 19 list and observing all the guidelines around isolation etc. Please find enclosed a quick guide to when to keep your child at home.

The school is obliged by law, to inform Tusla when a pupil is absent for a total of 20 days in one school year or if the school has any concerns.  As the school has to fill in the category of absence when informing Tusla it is essential that absence notes are sent in after every absence from school. This can be done via email, class dojo or in hard copy.

Permission Forms – Please fill in and return enclosed forms for photo permission and other parental permissions. These will be kept on file in line with the school data protection policy

Kind Regards,

Sandra Wickham
